A diverse group of industries maintain world headquarters in Louisville, including several Fortune 500 and 1000 companies. Some of those companies include YUM Brands, Papa John's, GE, UPS, and Ford, just to name a few.
Louisville has emerged as a major center for the healthcare and medical sciences industries and offers a robust selection of colleges and universities. Food and drink are also important to the local economy as Louisville is home to many large restaurant chains. Over a third of all bourbon distillers are located in the metro area.
