Travelers usually have to worry about long lines at check-in and security and flight delays due to weather, but this week, they have political issues to also take into account, as several airlines are diverting the routes of their Asia flights because of the threat of a North Korean rocket launch. North Korea is said to be launching a rocket in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of North Korea’s first leader. So to prepare, three northeastern flight corridors in that area of the world will be closed as a precaution. Delta, All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, Philippine Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, and Cebu Pacific are all adjusting their flight routes today through Monday to avoid the possible rocket path. The diversion will cause the flights to be about 20 minutes longer. Also, the airlines are putting extra fuel on the planes in case of other unexpected route changes.
