Late last year, the Buffalo Niagara International Airport was given several million dollars in funding to complete improvement project, and earlier this week, the first project of the $1.4 million dollar plan got underway.  Construction crews are working on the outside roads and sidewalks of the airport. Both the upper and lower levels are receiving facelifts, and travelers are being cautioned to expect delays due to lane closures and to arrive early.

In addition to improving the aesthetics of the outside areas at BUF, the project is also aimed at helping to reduce traffic congestion at arrivals and pick-up locations and keep the traffic flow moving.

After this first project is complete, the transportation authority has plans to improve areas inside the airport as well, and those projects should take place throughout the year.
